Hello,
I'm Sandra Smith, a freelance writer.
I’ve been writing non-fiction since the mid 1980s, first for a small-town
newspaper, and later with how-to articles based on my experience with making and selling jewelry.
I’ve written about a variety of subjects since then for speciality,
regional, and national magazines, as well as the Internet.
My interests now lie primarily with short general interest articles. I’ve
never met a subject that didn’t interest me, so there’s no chance that I'll run out of ideas.
I am currently accepting assignments.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Natural Health, and am currently writing
a column titled Earth Sense. In it, I feature a different herb each month, focusing on its history and medicinal uses.
I’ve
completed several novels, the first of which was published by Five Star Expressions, an imprint of Thomson Gale publishers,
in January 2006. The title is Jenny’s Legacy, and I used the pen name Cassandra Barnes.
It's now available as an e-book and as a Kindle download.
My next book, Acts of Love, will be released in December
2008 as an e-book.
I’ve also had a several short stories published, including one in
Dogwood Tales, a national publication until its demise a few years ago.
I’ve been a member of various writing groups, and currently belong
to several. I’m also active in mentoring other writers through an Internet workshop. I’m active as a volunteer
in my community, and have served as a tutor for the Literacy Council as well as working with an animal welfare group.
